This program offers advanced, research-focused study of Latin and Russian, enabling students to explore how knowledge is developed, expanded, and revitalized. It fosters independent learning among all participants, promoting curiosity, precision, academic integrity, and rigorous scholarship. Spanning 48 months, the course leads to a Master of Arts (Honours) degree. Like all St Andrews programs, it consists of credit-based modules, requiring students to complete 480 credits total—typically 120 per academic year. The initial two years combine mandatory program-specific courses with elective options (sometimes including interdisciplinary Faculty selections). Subsequent years emphasize advanced, research-driven study through specialized curriculum modules. The first two years blend core program requirements with diverse elective choices (potentially spanning multiple Faculties), while later years focus on tailored, research-oriented coursework.
