This program offers an in-depth exploration of Modern Languages (Italian and Russian) and Latin at an advanced, research-focused level, enabling students to comprehend how knowledge evolves, progresses, and is revitalized. It fosters independent learning among all participants, cultivating curiosity, precision, academic integrity, and intellectual discipline. Spanning 48 months, the curriculum culminates in a Master of Arts (Honours) degree. Like all St Andrews programs, it consists of credit-based modules, requiring students to complete 480 credits over four years, typically earning 120 credits annually. The initial two years combine mandatory program-specific courses with elective options, sometimes including interdisciplinary modules. The final years emphasize advanced, research-driven education through specialized courses tailored to the program. The first two years integrate core subjects with a variety of electives, potentially spanning different academic departments, while the latter years focus on specialized, research-oriented study.
