Explore antiquity through a dual lens of history and archaeology with our BA Ancient History and Archaeology program at the University of Birmingham. This dynamic undergraduate course blends hands-on practice with academic theory, focusing on prehistoric Europe, Egypt, and classical civilizations of Greece and Rome.
Our unique curriculum integrates archaeological methods with historical analysis, featuring specialized modules in field archaeology, material culture studies, and historical interpretation. Students can choose to concentrate on archaeology, ancient history, or pursue an interdisciplinary path.
The program includes immersive fieldwork experiences, providing essential practical training in archaeological techniques. During your second year, the department funds a Study Tour - an academic journey abroad where you'll visit significant archaeological sites and monuments alongside peers and faculty members.
