This program provides the same adaptable structure as the Archaeology BA while giving students hands-on experience working with professional teams to excavate, survey, research, preserve, and manage historical sites and artifacts. You'll collaborate with specialists from Archaeology South-East (ASE) in a dynamic setting, contributing to groundbreaking archaeological discoveries and helping educate the public about heritage conservation. The curriculum establishes core knowledge in archaeological theory, fieldwork techniques, and key developments in global prehistory. Students can choose specialized electives focusing on specific regions, time periods, or material studies throughout their studies.
Elective courses offer practical training in diverse skills like landscape mapping and archaeological photography. The archaeology department provides rotating biennial options covering subjects from Roman artistic traditions to ceramic examination; from soil analysis to animal bone studies; exploring regions from Amazonian cultures to Mesoamerican civilizations, and from Neolithic Britain to ancient China and early Islamic archaeology.
