This program explores fashion photography through various social, cultural, and theoretical frameworks of practice and distribution. The MA Fashion Photography curriculum is tailored for graduates and professionals seeking to position and refine their photographic work within both emerging and established creative and commercial systems, along with career pathways. Participants are guided to cultivate a critical perspective, conceptual framework, and artistic direction for fashion photography that considers cultural, political, and aesthetic influences while engaging with industry, environmental, societal, and cultural impacts. The course incorporates diverse cultural, educational, professional, and global perspectives to establish a broad and pertinent dialogue around fashion photography practice, research, innovation, and career preparation.
This approach encourages diverse methodologies and technical skills rather than advocating for a rigid or narrow definition of fashion photography. Consequently, the program aims to cultivate fashion imagery that navigates between concepts like reality and fantasy, uniformity and diversity, public and personal spheres, static and dynamic imagery, reflective and observational perspectives, as well as grand narratives and mundane moments—paralleling fashion's own dual nature as physical form, visual representation, and personal expression.
