Photography has emerged as the dominant medium for people to document and share their everyday experiences. This innovative program delves into photography's potential when collaborating with actual communities to create culturally significant work.
Delivered through a unique collaboration between the University of Salford and Open Eye Gallery, this course connects you with working professionals, community organizations, and scholars to reconsider photography's societal role while advancing your artistic skills and career development.
Participants will receive guidance on developing creative initiatives for both artistic and non-artistic contexts, learning to produce socially conscious art that resonates with viewers and collaborators alike. The program includes hands-on projects with partners across healthcare, youth services, community organizations, and justice systems - all grounded in thoughtful, ethical approaches.
The curriculum features professional development workshops covering legal considerations, ethical guidelines, safety protocols, and career-building strategies, with some shared learning opportunities alongside Socially Engaged Practice students.
