Boost your bachelor's degree by adding a year-long placement in industry, business, or research settings. Genetics helps us comprehend fundamental biological processes like development, growth, and aging by examining cellular molecular mechanisms, while also revealing how these systems malfunction in disease. The field also equips us with techniques to enhance agricultural crops and animal breeds.
This program is designed to establish a comprehensive foundation in Genetics across molecular, cellular, and organismal scales. Students will also develop specialized knowledge in specific genetic areas that align with the School's research focus, while learning about the diverse applications of this discipline.
During your fourth year, you'll complete a 12-month industrial placement, graduating after five years with an MSci (an undergraduate Master's qualification) rather than a BSc. Placement opportunities vary widely, but typically involve working in industrial, commercial, or research settings where you'll gain valuable hands-on experience to complement your academic studies and improve your career prospects.
