Ignite enthusiasm for STEM in young learners, helping them explore endless opportunities while building crucial skills for future careers. Our program provides a adaptable route from college to university, establishing a strong foundation in your chosen field to become a secondary computing science teacher. We strive to expand your expertise and abilities to meet modern teaching demands, motivating students to embrace STEM through diverse instructional methods and hands-on learning. This degree offers HND computer science graduates a seamless transition to our MA (Hons) in Secondary Education, qualifying you to teach STEM subjects in secondary schools. During the initial university year (Year 3), you'll complete 60 credits in Education and 60 credits in Computer Science, reinforcing previous knowledge and preparing you for classroom application in the MA's final year. Year 3's education courses establish core principles in policy and STEM education, which are further developed in Year 4. You can customize your learning path and opt to conclude studies after Year 3 if preferred. Specific regulations govern progression to Year 4's teacher education, requiring successful interview assessments of entry requirements (credits, language, and mathematics qualifications) outlined in the entry agreement. Year 4 follows the accredited PGDE Secondary program, featuring one 60-credit Education course and a 60-credit placement (totaling 18 weeks across two schools) teaching Computer Science. Upon completing the MA (Honours) Secondary Education with Computer Science, you'll gain provisional registration with Scotland's General Teaching Council (GTCS), enabling you to begin your probationary year teaching your specialization in Scottish secondary schools.
