This program is perfect for those aiming to enhance their English expertise while obtaining Qualified Teacher Status (QTS), enabling them to teach in secondary schools. Participants will receive guidance to grow into self-assured, skilled educators capable of fostering effective learning in young learners. The BA (Hons) English with Secondary Education program offers an in-depth exploration of your chosen specialization, transitioning from foundational subject knowledge in Years One and Two to focusing on teaching methodologies and professional competencies needed for effective subject instruction in the final year.

During Year Two, alongside your subject-focused modules, you'll complete an education module introducing core teaching theories and practices. In your final year, you'll study Level 6 education modules alongside postgraduate teaching students and complete practical training leading to QTS recommendation. The program includes school placements in Years Two and Three to prepare you for professional teaching environments. The curriculum integrates key components for launching your teaching career as an Early Career Teacher (ECT): advanced undergraduate-level subject knowledge, understanding of learning and teaching processes, specialized teaching knowledge for your subject area, and hands-on experience in secondary school settings.
