Ignite enthusiasm for STEM in young learners, helping them explore endless opportunities while building crucial skills for future careers. Our program provides a adaptable route from college to university, establishing a strong foundation in your chosen field to prepare you as a secondary Physics teacher. We focus on expanding your expertise to meet modern teaching demands, motivating students through diverse instructional methods and hands-on learning. This degree offers HND Physics graduates a seamless transition to our MA (Hons) in Secondary Education, qualifying you to teach STEM subjects in secondary schools. During the initial university year (Year 3), you'll complete 60 Education credits alongside 60 Physics credits, reinforcing previous knowledge and preparing you for classroom application in the program's final year. Year 3's Education courses establish core understanding of policies and STEM teaching principles, which are further developed in Year 4. You can customize your learning path and opt to conclude studies after Year 3 if preferred. Specific requirements govern progression to Year 4's teacher training, including interview assessments of entry criteria (credits, language, and mathematics proficiency) outlined in the admission agreement. Year 4 follows the accredited PGDE Secondary curriculum, featuring one 60-credit Education course and a 60-credit school placement (totaling 18 weeks across two schools) teaching Physics. Upon completing the MA (Honours) Secondary Education with Physics, you'll gain provisional registration with Scotland's General Teaching Council (GTCS), enabling you to begin your probationary year teaching your specialization in Scottish secondary schools.
