This program provides all essential subjects to launch your legal career in Scotland, England, Wales, or Northern Ireland, with the added benefit of spending an entire year abroad during your five-year course, immersing yourself in European legal systems.
Aberdeen's Law program examines how historical, social, political, and economic factors shape legal frameworks and societal governance. You'll develop true legal thinking skills rather than merely memorizing laws. Our distinguished faculty will challenge you with intricate, real-world legal scenarios as you master criminal, public, and private law, legal systems, contracts, human rights, while delving into family law, property law, and EU legal aspects. Enhance your abilities through student-driven activities like mock trials, the Law Society, our student journal, and the Aberdeen Law Project community clinic. Like all combined programs, you'll complete the necessary Scots and English Law curriculum for your LLB. Your third year will be spent at prestigious European institutions including Aarhus, Deusto, Helsinki, Leuven, Maastricht universities, or Vienna University of Economics and Business, studying European law through English-taught courses.
While this degree prepares you superbly for legal practice, over one-third of Aberdeen law graduates now apply their legal training to diverse fields such as business, media, finance, education, government agencies, and law enforcement.
