Our fine arts program focuses on hands-on learning through studio projects with fellow students and instructors. A team of professional artists and educators will mentor you in discovering and refining your artistic style, while encouraging exploration of diverse mediums and techniques to expand your creative vision.
Work alongside classmates to exchange ideas, sharpen your artistic approach, and enhance your creative process. Strengthen your adaptability by maintaining a sketchbook and written journal to document your creative journey, challenges, and breakthroughs—helping identify recurring themes in your work. Additionally, you'll gain practical knowledge for succeeding in the arts sector, from refining concepts to mastering professional presentation skills and managing ambitious projects.
The program benefits from its partnership with MIMA (Middlesbrough Institute of Modern Art), an internationally recognized Tate-affiliated gallery housing a permanent collection. MIMA provides invaluable insights into transitioning from student to professional artist, offering behind-the-scenes exposure to museum operations, artist collaborations, and roles like curation, education, and arts marketing. Apply these experiences by showcasing your work in exhibitions with partner venues across Teesside and other locations.
This program includes a foundation year—perfect for those needing extra preparation or who don't meet the entry requirements for direct first-year admission.
Duration: 4 years (or 5 with an optional internship)
