Ancient History delves into the civilizations of Greece and Rome, analyzing their global connections. While these societies may seem remote, their impact persists in modern times. This three-year BA program equips you with theoretical frameworks, research methods, and archaeological evidence to understand diverse ancient experiences. The analytical skills you'll develop can lead to rewarding careers across multiple industries.
You'll explore various aspects of Greco-Roman civilization including social structures, architectural achievements, military campaigns, and cultural practices—or opt to study ancient Egypt. Language options include ancient Greek and Latin.
Our curriculum offers diverse specializations, taught by internationally renowned scholars. Faculty expertise spans Greek city-states, ancient geography, Cypriot history, Alexander's empire, Roman Syria, Pompeii, and late imperial leadership.

Qualification Requirements

Our standard entry requirement is BBB (UCAS tariff points 120) or equivalent. All offers are made following a review of the application form, predicted/achieved grades and subjects, the reference and personal statement. We also accept a range of advanced level qualifications including: International Baccalaureate 32, Welsh Baccalaureate - grade equivalent to A-level, Access to Higher Education and Open University qualifications, and Extended Project.

For applicants whose first language is not English, we require a minimum IELTS score of 6.0 overall (with a minimum of 5.5 in each component) or equivalent English test.TOEFL (IBT) - 79
