This program blends English studies (75% of your coursework) with Philosophy (25%), allowing you to focus on literature while also examining both classical and contemporary philosophical thought.
Spanning from Beowulf to contemporary award-winning works, the English component lets you explore the complete historical spectrum of English literature, stay current with modern developments, and even hone your creative writing skills.
You'll have the chance to examine foundational English texts, deepen your understanding of Shakespeare's works, appreciate Renaissance masterpieces, explore 18th-century perspectives, and analyze Victorian era writings. The flexible curriculum helps you build a strong foundation in major literary periods, styles, authors, and concepts while offering numerous elective choices. Options include studying Modernist and Postmodernist movements, American literature, literary theory, creative writing workshops, and contemporary global English literature.
