Our research centers on investigating disease mechanisms and their effects on patients' lives through innovative diagnostic and therapeutic approaches.
In our Biomedicine PhD, MD, and MPhil programs, we concentrate on: disease mechanisms, life-altering impacts of illness
employing novel diagnostic methods, applying advanced therapeutic techniques
creating innovative treatments
Students in the MPhil, MD, and PhD Biomedicine programs enroll with a University research institute.
You'll receive organized supervision and training through our Faculty of Medical Sciences Graduate School.
We conduct research and provide supervision in these areas:
Applied immunobiology (including organ and stem cell transplantation)
Newcastle operates one of the world's most extensive organ transplant programs. This clinical excellence has grown alongside our immunobiology and transplantation research group. Current investigations include:
autoimmune disease immunology, cancer treatment approaches, transplant rejection mechanisms.
Additional research explores the balance between inflammatory and anti-inflammatory responses through various biological pathways, and how these can be therapeutically modified. Another key area examines primary immunodeficiency disorders.
