This program explores how chemical substances affect biological organisms, with special emphasis on medications and their impact on health conditions. Ideal for those interested in creating or evaluating new pharmaceutical treatments, or interpreting pharmacological research, this hands-on degree provides essential lab techniques and data analysis training in our advanced Science Center and classroom settings.

You'll examine how molecular interactions with cellular receptors trigger specific bodily responses, applying this knowledge to understand therapeutic applications. Case studies include antipsychotic medications for schizophrenia management and hypertension treatments. The curriculum also covers pharmaceutical development processes, compound testing methods, and optimal approaches for evaluating pharmacological information.

Instruction combines traditional classroom teaching with digital resources and practical work in our £30 million Science Center. Your final year includes an independent research initiative, plus optional industry placements for valuable professional experience to enhance your career prospects.
