Boost your bachelor's degree by adding a year-long placement in industry, business, or research. Pharmacology focuses on understanding drug properties, mechanisms of action, and developing new medications. This field also covers drug safety, usage methods, and how drugs move through the body - from absorption to elimination. Our program provides comprehensive knowledge about drugs at molecular, cellular, tissue, and systemic levels. You'll develop specialized expertise in key pharmacology areas aligned with our School's research strengths, such as neuropharmacology, cancer treatments, and toxicology. This research-driven curriculum offers a contemporary, relevant education that prepares graduates for successful careers in pharmacology and related fields.
During your fourth year, you'll complete a 12-month professional placement, earning an MSci (an undergraduate Master's degree) after five years instead of a BSc. Placement opportunities vary widely, but typically allow you to gain hands-on experience in industrial, corporate, or research settings. This practical training complements your academic studies and significantly improves your career prospects.
