These unforgettable practical experiences occur during the summers after your first and second years, at sites both in the UK and abroad. In addition to field skills developed through placements and our excellent facilities, you'll cultivate specialized research abilities through a second-year independent study project. With guidance from our expert faculty, you'll design and complete your own archaeological investigation on a topic of your choice. The program's flexible structure allows increasing specialization, ensuring you gain skills valuable both within and beyond the heritage sector. This comprehensive degree develops versatile skills employers value, from teamwork and leadership in fieldwork to analyzing evidence and effectively communicating historical narratives to diverse audiences.Learning approachThe School of History, Archaeology and Religion fosters your growth through high-quality teaching with a student-focused approach to knowledge and skill development. Our teaching combines lectures, seminars, practical sessions, workshops, interactive classes, field trips, and individual tutorials, complemented by independent research with tutor support.Lectures establish foundational concepts and frameworks, preparing you for independent exploration in seminars where you'll develop your own perspectives.
