This course takes you on a journey from early hunter-gatherer societies to the intricate civilizations of medieval and contemporary times, examining history not only through written records and visuals but also through physical artifacts. You'll investigate diverse historical eras using interdisciplinary approaches, merging scientific analysis of archaeological finds with traditional historical research, writing, and discussion to master essential historical study methods. The curriculum strengthens your historical understanding through both theoretical frameworks and hands-on applications, spanning from the Stone Age to modern history.
Our academic scope extends globally from Britain to East Asia and North America. You can examine themes like racial dynamics, human rights, and media influence, while uncovering notable figures from medieval history. Studies may include analyzing skeletal remains to understand human evolution and social structures, or examining personal correspondence to glimpse into historical figures' private lives. The program offers practical training through domestic and international archaeological fieldwork opportunities.
As a dual-degree student, you'll acquire competencies from both disciplines. While courses are taught independently, you can select a unifying topic for your senior thesis.
