This Adult Nursing BN Dispersed Learning program combines mandatory academic coursework with hands-on placements across Powys in hospital, community, and residential environments. Students gain valuable practical experience through supervised placements that showcase professional healthcare teams in action, allowing participants to build confidence and nursing competencies while contributing to patient care under guidance. Each student benefits from dedicated mentorship provided by a registered nurse serving as both personal tutor and academic advisor. The program includes weekly in-person support sessions during theoretical study blocks, conveniently located within Powys to facilitate discussions about both classroom learning and clinical experiences.
Clinical placements feature supervision and evaluation by seasoned nursing professionals and healthcare specialists. Academic progress is measured through various assessments including written assignments, exams, presentations, and the comprehensive All-Wales Assessment of Clinical Practice portfolio.
GCSEs: applicants must normally have, or be working towards, a minimum of five GCSE grades A*-C/9-4 including GCSE Welsh or English first language and Mathematics/Numeracy (or a recognised alternative qualification), but consideration is given to individual circumstances.
