The Philosophy, Politics, and Economics (PPE) program equips students to tackle global challenges by integrating philosophical analysis, political science perspectives, and economic methodologies. Our rigorous curriculum covers logic, ethics, collective decision-making, behavioral studies, political philosophy, economic theory, and intellectual history.
First established at Oxford University and now offered worldwide (with Otago being New Zealand's sole provider), our PPE program provides grounding in foundational texts of social sciences, exposure to cutting-edge societal concepts, and examination of contemporary policy issues. With today's policy landscape growing increasingly complex, our interdisciplinary approach uniquely prepares students for these demands.
PPE alumni leverage their analytical training across diverse professions: our graduates have pursued careers in diplomacy, media, law, project coordination, academia, corporate leadership, startups, finance, and policy research.
Our degree holders work across entertainment, hospitality, and tech sectors, while those in public service hold positions at the Supreme Court and various ministries including Environment, Finance, Social Welfare, and Taxation.
Otago PPE graduates have established themselves across governmental, corporate, educational, and nonprofit sectors throughout New Zealand, North America, Europe, Asia, and Australia.
