The MLitt serves as an alternative to a PhD for those who already hold a master's degree and wish to pursue an extensive research project. This degree is available across most disciplines within the Faculty of Arts, pending approval and supervisor availability. You may choose to deepen your research in your current field or explore a completely new area. The MLitt can enhance various academic or professional paths, particularly for those not pursuing doctoral studies. Graduate programs in Languages and Literature allow students to advance their knowledge in two languages and their literary traditions simultaneously. Available study areas include: Chinese, English, French, German, Greek, Italian, Japanese, Korean, Latin, Maori Studies, and Spanish. These programs focus on refining language skills, literary analysis, and linguistic studies where offered. Research papers or projects form a key part of the curriculum. Unlike Comparative Literature, Languages and Literature programs mandate language proficiency and do not involve cross-language literary comparisons.
