The MA provides diverse options to suit your needs. You can select between research-based or taught programs, with durations of one year or 18 months based on your qualifications, across over 40 academic disciplines. Your prior education might allow you to explore a field distinct from your previous specialization. A research master's lets you make meaningful contributions to your discipline through an extensive research endeavor guided by New Zealand's top academics. Alternatively, a taught master's offers intensive learning in intimate classroom settings, fostering direct engagement with faculty while undertaking a more modest research component. For Languages and Literature postgraduates, you can pursue advanced study in two languages and their literary traditions simultaneously. Available languages include Chinese, English, French, German, Greek, Italian, Japanese, Korean, Latin, Maori Studies, and Spanish. These programs focus on enhancing language proficiency, literary analysis, and linguistic exploration where possible. Substantial research papers or projects form a crucial part of these graduate programs. Unlike Comparative Literature, Languages and Literature mandates language acquisition and doesn't involve cross-cultural comparisons between the two chosen languages and literatures.
