These three integrated programs offer students adaptable full-time study choices, enabling them to complete the courses over multiple years or consecutively within one year. Learners can pursue the Post-Graduate Certificate during the Autumn semester through in-person, online, or blended learning formats. After the Autumn semester, students may choose to graduate with the Certificate or proceed with on-campus studies in the spring semester to earn the Postgraduate Diploma. Those who wish to continue can advance to the summer semester to attain the higher qualification of a Master of Arts in Irish Music Studies.
The programs leverage the Academy's extensive interdisciplinary knowledge, examining and broadening concepts of Irish music from both historical and modern viewpoints. The Irish World Academy of Music and Dance has emerged as a premier institution for Irish traditional music studies, and while this genre influences certain aspects of the Masters program, it represents just one of several Irish musical traditions available for exploration. Participants also have the opportunity to connect with the subject matter through personal performance or compositional work, where suitable and if they choose to do so.
