The Structured PhD in Children's Studies offers a four-year full-time or six-year part-time interdisciplinary doctoral program, drawing expertise from multiple schools and disciplines at the University of Galway. This multidisciplinary approach addresses the growing demand for researchers with comprehensive insights into children's lives both in Ireland and internationally.
Throughout the four-year duration, participants will benefit from guidance by leading scholars in Children's Studies while refining their research concepts and advancing their methodological capabilities.
The program requires students to complete specialized discipline courses, general skills training, and conduct independent research. Course selection will be tailored to each student's specific research focus area.
Candidates should have obtained an honours degree in an appropriate subject (Second Class Honours, Grade 1 minimum [or equivalent international qualification]), and will typically hold a Master’s degree.
