The UCD Structured PhD in Children and Youth Studies enables students to investigate important topics through original research, contributing valuable insights to academic scholarship, professional practice, and policy development. We welcome research proposals covering all aspects of childhood, adolescence, and young adulthood from candidates with diverse academic backgrounds.

Students can pursue this PhD either full-time (3-4 years) or part-time (6 years). An accelerated pathway exists for graduates of the part-time MSc in Children and Youth Studies, allowing direct entry to the third year of the part-time PhD program upon successful completion of the master's degree.
