This intensive two-year full-time program prepares artists for professional careers or advanced doctoral studies, with potential pathways to PhD opportunities. Structured as a cohesive learning journey, the MFA combines Studio Research, Historical & Critical Studies, and Professional Studies modules into a unified artistic development experience. This joint initiative between Burren College of Art and University of Galway is delivered at the Burren campus, with students formally enrolled at University of Galway. The program benefits from collaborations with London's Royal College of Art and Chicago's School of the Art Institute, whose faculty contribute to teaching. Participants enjoy exclusive studio access at Burren College and guidance from all BCA faculty. The curriculum culminates in a final exhibition while developing students' critical analysis skills in fine art, enabling them to contextualize their work within contemporary art theory and practice frameworks.

Career Pathways
Alumni pursue careers as practicing artists and in art-related sectors including curation, gallery management, and arts education. The program equips graduates with adaptable skills and knowledge applicable across diverse professional contexts, tailored to individual career aspirations.
