Building upon the achievements of the MA in Landscape Archaeology, starting September 2022, the University of Galway's Department of Archaeology will introduce an updated MA program in Landscape, Archaeology, and Heritage. The revised title reflects the evolution of landscape studies and the growing integration of archaeology, landscape, and heritage in professional work, aligning with cultural heritage's recognition as the fourth pillar of sustainable development. Archaeology has substantially enriched scholarly discussions in this field, and our distinctive expertise in examining landscapes' material and historical aspects ensures its pivotal role in the curriculum. However, our primary emphasis remains on preparing students for today's interdisciplinary and transdisciplinary job market.

A key advantage of studying this discipline at the University of Galway lies in its Public Archaeology focus. The program leverages the department's proven success in assisting communities to unlock the social, educational, and economic value of their local heritage.
