The MA in Global Gallery Studies (MAGGS) is an intensive one-year program designed to equip students for professional roles within gallery settings and fine arts institutions worldwide. Delivered through a collaboration between UCC's History of Art department, The Glucksman art gallery, and the Department of Digital Arts & Humanities, this program blends academic theory with hands-on experience. Dr. Mary Kelly serves as Director of this pioneering MA Global Gallery Studies initiative.
Participants explore both theoretical coursework—covering global gallery fundamentals, curatorial art history, and digital arts—and practical components featuring innovative collaborations with The Glucksman, international gallery networking opportunities, and internships with leading galleries in Ireland or abroad. The program includes a travel scholarship to support students during the Global Galleries Fieldwork module (HA6025).
Graduates gain both the analytical abilities and operational expertise valued in the arts industry, along with deep insight into contemporary gallery operations across different regions and cultural contexts.
