The UCD School of Archaeology invites prospective PhD candidates across all archaeological disciplines and World Heritage studies. Our four-year doctoral program offers a structured framework featuring research training, coursework, a Professional Development Plan, and teaching opportunities. Each candidate receives dedicated primary supervision and comprehensive academic support throughout their independent research journey, typically leading to publishable scholarly work. Our faculty brings extensive supervisory experience and diverse specializations, with active field projects across Europe and Asia, and research spanning from heritage conservation to experimental archaeology. Numerous graduates have secured postdoctoral funding after completing their doctoral studies with us.
