The School of English at Dublin City University has a rich history in children's literature studies, building upon academic traditions from its predecessor institutions. The Church of Ireland College of Education pioneered Ireland's first postgraduate diploma in children's literature in 1992, while St. Patrick's College, Drumcondra launched the nation's inaugural taught master's program in this field in 1997.
Starting September 2017, DCU's School of English introduced the Master of Arts in Children's and Young Adult Literature - Ireland's sole postgraduate degree specializing in YA literature, representing a significant milestone for both the field and the institution. Beginning September 2021, this MA program will additionally be available as a full-time study option.
This innovative program gains tremendous value from contributions by leading national and international specialists in the field, coupled with the passionate engagement of its student body.
