Our BSc Mathematical Sciences curriculum provides a comprehensive education for students aiming to attain mathematical expertise highly sought after in the job market. The program covers diverse subjects within pure mathematics, applied mathematics, and statistics, allowing students to focus on their preferred areas without excessive specialization. Students enjoy considerable flexibility in course selection, particularly during their third and fourth years.
The first year establishes fundamental competencies that support subsequent learning. While reviewing secondary school mathematics, the emphasis shifts toward deeper comprehension and mathematical precision. Students discover new mathematical concepts through modules spanning theoretical principles to practical implementations, learning to apply these methods in real-world scenarios. Additionally, the program develops essential programming skills for mathematical applications, fosters teamwork experience, and enhances communication abilities through project-based learning and research presentations.
Non-EU applicants are expected to have educational qualifications of a standard equivalent to the Irish Leaving Certificate
Duolingo English Test (DET): DET 120 with a minimum score of 110 in each individual section
IELTS - International English Language Testing System/ IELTS Indicator Test: Minimum overall score of 6.5 and a minimum of 6.0 in each band
TOEFL - Test of English as a Foreign Language - TOEFL iBT/TOEFL iBT Special Home Edition Test: Minimum overall score of 90 and minimum of 20 in each section
University of Cambridge: 176+ on the Cambridge English scale with no less than 169 in each skill and use of English i.e.
