The Bachelor of Arts in Mathematics and Education is a four-year, full-time honors degree program that combines teacher training certification with hands-on teaching experience throughout its duration. Upon completion, graduates will be recognized as qualified mathematicians by the Teaching Council of Ireland and certified to teach Mathematics and Applied Mathematics at the post-primary level. This collaborative program is offered by both the School of Mathematics, Statistics and Applied Mathematics and the School of Education at University of Galway, designed to address Ireland's increasing demand for skilled Mathematics educators and qualified mathematicians.

Qualification Requirements

Minimum Grade H5 in two subjects and passes in four other subjects at O6/H7 level in the Leaving Certificate, including Irish, English, Mathematics, and another language, and two other subjects recognised for entry purposes. Additional requirements: Minimum H5 or 01 in Mathematics.

Additional Requirements

A H5 or O1 Grade in Mathematics is also a requirement. Students must satisfy Garda/Police vetting requirements.

English Language Requirements

IELTS: 6.5 overall, no less than 5.5 in any one component; Cambridge C1 Advanced (CAE): 176 overall; Cambridge C2 Advanced (CPE): 180 overall; TOEFL: 88 overall (7 Listening, 16 Speaking, 18 Writing, 8 Reading); Pearson PTE: 61 overall, no less than 48 in any one component.
