Social Care Work focuses on building relationships to intentionally design and deliver care, safeguarding, emotional support, and advocacy for marginalized or disadvantaged individuals and groups with specific requirements. The field is grounded in social justice and human rights principles, as outlined by the Social Care Workers Registration Board, CORU.
This practical program includes two semesters of fieldwork placements. Social Care Workers commonly assist individuals with physical or cognitive challenges, at-risk youth, abused or neglected children, families in need, those struggling with addiction, homeless populations, and older adults across various environments like residential facilities, day programs, and community services.
The curriculum highlights both professional growth and personal resilience needed for this demanding sector. Alumni secure positions with organizations such as the HSE, TUSLA, government bodies, nonprofits, and local community agencies.
