At SETU Carlow, students have access to an on-campus aerospace facility featuring a diverse collection of fixed-wing and rotary aircraft, a cutting-edge avionics/UAS lab, a Garmin-equipped Cessna 172 flight simulator, and a wind tunnel for aerofoil testing. These exceptional resources create an optimal educational atmosphere, blending academic knowledge with hands-on practice. Learners utilize professional-grade software like SOLIDWORKS, ANSYS, and MATLAB for designing, analyzing, and simulating aircraft performance. The curriculum develops expertise in multiple disciplines including aerodynamics, propulsion systems, aviation networks, flight mechanics, control systems, aircraft leasing, embedded systems, and both individual and group design projects. During the third year, students undertake an industry placement within the engineering field.
