The Computer Music program offers students two thesis submission options:
(1) Dissertation route: A written thesis of 40,000-50,000 words accompanied by proof-of-concept for any developed technologies, which may consist of an original musical piece along with technical documentation (such as hardware schematics or software source code). (2) Publication route: 6-8 papers published (or formally accepted) in internationally peer-reviewed conferences and recognized journals within the field, including at least two journal articles, plus a 15,000-18,000 word introductory synthesis. One publication may be an original composition. Both options culminate in a viva voce examination conducted by two examiners (one internal, one external) and an independent chair.
