The MLitt is a research program demanding significant student initiative for conducting independent, original academic work. This program aims to equip students with professional training in anthropological studies while fostering scholars who can meaningfully contribute to global disciplinary networks through innovative, ethical, and impactful work. Accordingly, the curriculum delivers essential research methodologies and specialized training tailored to each student's project requirements. Most importantly, the department strives to enable students to thoroughly explore their unique research topics through self-directed study under faculty supervision, with mentors offering comprehensive guidance and constructive critiques throughout the process.
Minimum 2.1 degree (BA or MA) or international equivalent, and a proposal for original research that is accepted by the Anthropology Department. Normally students being admitted to the MLitt programme are expected to have previous study of anthropology. Students with a degree in a field other than anthropology would be required to sit modules in our taught MA programme before continuing on with their research.
