The Higher Diploma in Arts (Celtic Civilisation) is designed for degree holders seeking an intensive one-year full-time or two-year part-time exploration of medieval Celtic literature and culture.
This program caters to graduates interested in pursuing master's-level studies in this field (without prior honors degree specialization) or those wishing to enhance their qualifications with Celtic Civilisation credentials.
The diploma requires completion of 60 credits from selected Second and Third Arts modules. The Department of Early and Medieval Irish, with approval from the College of Arts Celtic Studies and Social Sciences, determines appropriate modules, attendance expectations, and coursework. Individual study paths may vary based on academic background and specialization interests.
It is intended for those who already have a 3 or 4 year primary degree, preferably in the area of Arts or the Sciences, and who wish to the subject Celtic Civilisation intensively over one academic year. The Higher Diploma in Arts is a conversion programme and applicant would not normally have studied the relevant subject to Honours Degree level previously.
