The M.Phil. in Early Modern History offers History, Humanities, and Social Sciences graduates an opportunity to explore research in political, social, cultural, and religious history spanning Ireland, Britain, and continental Europe during the Early Modern era. This intensive one-year course acquaints students with diverse topics and methodologies in Early Modern History while delivering thorough training in research techniques and essential skills.
Centered around Trinity College Library's exceptional collections covering the Reformation through the French Revolution, the program showcases cutting-edge research conducted by the Department of History. It also provides foundational graduate training for those planning to pursue PhD studies in Early Modern History.
Applicants should normally have at least an upper second class (2.1) honors Bachelor degree or equivalent (for example, GPA of 3.3) in history or a related discipline. Since places on the course are limited, applicants may be interviewed or asked to submit a writing sample for assessment.
