This master's program equips you with an advanced comprehension of the complexities involved in studying history. Experts in modern, early modern, and medieval history guide you through diverse historical materials, examining their applications and constraints. Upon finishing the program, graduates will be prepared to: Grasp the worldviews of historical eras. Articulate insightful perspectives on historical transformations. Work with varied primary sources ranging from legal documents to modern media. Demonstrate an understanding of how contemporary issues connect to past social, political, economic, and cultural developments.
Professional Pathways
The MA serves as strong preparation for History PhD candidates and independent researchers. Alumni have secured positions in education, government, research institutions, libraries, cultural organizations, tourism, journalism, and political organizations. Professionals already working in these fields will find the program enhances their career prospects.
A Second Class Honours BA degree or equivalent with a H2.1 or GPA of 3.3 in History is normally required. Different criteria may apply to mature applicants.
Selection will be based on applicants' academic record and academic references testifying to their academic ability and enthusiasm for history. An applicant’s active engagement with history outside of the academic context may also be taken into consideration
The same entry requirements and application procedure are in place for both the MA and PDip programme.
English Language Requirements
IELTS: 6.5 overall, no less than 5.5 in any one component; Cambridge C1 Advanced (CAE): 176 overall; Cambridge C2 Advanced (CPE): 180 overall; TOEFL: 88 overall (7 Listening, 16 Speaking, 18 Writing, 8 Reading); Pearson PTE: 61 overall, no less than 48 in any one component.
