The M.Phil. in Modern Irish History program offers Humanities or Social Sciences graduates an opportunity to explore research in contemporary Irish history, examining key questions historians investigate and the methodologies they employ. Leveraging faculty expertise, the curriculum utilizes Trinity College's extensive library collections and nearby Dublin archives. Students engage with focused examinations of specific topics in modern Irish history while also preparing those interested in advancing to PhD-level studies.
Applicants should normally have at least an upper second class (2.1) honors Bachelor degree or equivalent (for example, GPA of 3.3) in a relevant area. Since places on the course are limited, applicants may be interviewed or asked to submit a writing sample for assessment.
