This program provides an exceptional chance to combine your passions meaningfully and create a beneficial influence in society via education. Upon completion, you'll be qualified to teach Physical Education and Biology at Leaving Certificate level, as well as Science for Junior Certificate, or explore numerous other rewarding career options. The curriculum presents a distinctive combination of academic disciplines, delivered with a strong focus on hands-on learning. Throughout the program, you'll develop thorough knowledge of various physical activities (including athletics, games, swimming, dance, and outdoor pursuits), biology, science, and education, along with their underlying theories and practical skills. You'll enhance your abilities in communication, leadership, and analytical thinking. The third and fourth years include extensive teaching placements in schools, with the additional opportunity for international study through the Erasmus program. The learning methods encompass diverse approaches such as in-person and virtual lectures, collaborative group projects, independent study, practical sessions, professional placements, and research. While this prepares you for teaching PE, biology, and science at secondary level in Ireland or internationally, it also equips you for coaching certifications or careers in educational fields, exercise science, physical therapy, and life sciences. You may also choose to advance to postgraduate studies at master's or doctoral level.
