Nurses possess innate problem-solving abilities and a genuine concern for others' well-being, demonstrating key attributes like resilience, empathy, dependability, honesty, and strong communication skills that are vital in nursing. They serve a crucial function in society by assisting individuals in attaining, preserving, or recovering optimal health while providing compassionate care with dignity. This program will equip you with comprehensive nursing expertise alongside essential competencies including analytical reasoning, self-reflection, research methodologies, and problem-oriented learning. You'll discover how to deliver up-to-date, research-backed care as a dedicated and empathetic nurse.
Delivered through DCU's collaboration with public and private healthcare providers, this four-and-a-half-year program includes multiple annual placements across pediatric and adult hospitals plus community settings, culminating in a 36-week internship during years four and five.
Upon graduation, you'll be eligible to register with Ireland's Nursing & Midwifery Board (NMBI) as both a General and Children's nurse. Your qualification will enable you to practice in diverse settings including hospitals, communities, schools, and care facilities, with international opportunities particularly available in the UK, Australia, Canada, and the US. The program also serves as a foundation for pursuing advanced studies.
