The Post-Degree Diploma in Fisheries and Aquaculture is a two-term program designed for graduates holding a Bachelor of Science in biology or similar fields. Ideal for individuals seeking to enhance their academic background with focused training and hands-on practice in fisheries, aquaculture, water conservation, and related research areas. This diploma features a major work placement element that can be fulfilled in diverse environments such as governmental or academic research facilities, fisheries habitat organizations, aquaculture operations for shellfish and finfish, salmon enhancement facilities, or environmental advisory companies. Students will customize their educational path based on personal interests through guidance from the program director. The curriculum offers courses spanning aquaculture practices, fisheries science, hatchery operations, resource management, conservation strategies, shellfish and finfish studies, kelp cultivation, habitat evaluation, plus interdisciplinary electives in subjects like biology, chemistry, communication, geography, Indigenous studies, business, and more.
