Vancouver Island University participates in the BC Common First-Year Engineering Curriculum (CFYEC). The Engineering Transfer Diploma offers a route to pursue engineering degrees at several institutions, including Simon Fraser University, Thompson Rivers University, the University of Northern British Columbia, the University of British Columbia, the University of Victoria, and the University of Alberta. This diploma program includes twenty introductory and intermediate courses that count toward UVic's Engineering degree requirements. Graduates who complete the full Engineering Transfer Diploma program receive:
Assured admission to UVic's second-year Engineering program, contingent on meeting specified GPA benchmarks and course grade minimums.
Inclusion in a general applicant pool for competitive placement into their preferred second-year engineering specialization at UVic. The GPA cutoff for specific engineering programs varies annually based on applicant numbers and available spots.
