The Master of Fine Arts (MFA) program at Waterloo spans five terms, commencing each autumn. Our curriculum provides an intensive, well-rounded education that helps students explore the theoretical foundations of their artistic practice. This is achieved by examining critical texts in graduate seminars, conducting research, writing, attending guest artist talks, and receiving studio critiques. Students may also apply for the Keith and Win Shantz Research Scholarship to pursue international study, travel, and develop global professional connections. The program's teaching component prepares students for higher education careers by offering two TA positions, graduate seminars on art education pedagogy, career development workshops, and the chance to instruct an introductory studio course.
