The Master of Arts in Literary Studies (MA-LIT) program offers students flexibility in completing their degree through coursework alone or by combining coursework with a significant project or thesis. Our curriculum explores both historical and modern aspects of British, American, Canadian, and English-language postcolonial literatures, along with their corresponding theoretical frameworks. Graduates of the MA-LIT program pursue careers in publishing, corporate sectors, government agencies, educational institutions, NGOs, and entrepreneurship, while some continue to doctoral studies. This specialization requires completion of four term-length courses. Thesis proposals must provide a comprehensive project summary, including a chapter breakdown, within a 1,000-word limit (excluding bibliography). The document should feature initial page headers with the student's name, supervisor's name, committee members' names, and a title. Clear section divisions with subheadings and spacing are essential, along with numbered pages. This proposal serves to gather input from the thesis supervisor, readers, and the English Graduate Committee to facilitate project success. Graduate Committee approval is mandatory before proceeding. The proposal should clearly define the research objectives and the body of texts or materials to be examined, while also positioning the project within its academic discipline.
