Western University's Comparative Literature program is renowned for its expertise in diverse literary traditions (including but not exclusive to American, Canadian, Classical, English, French & Francophone, German, Hindi, Italian, Portuguese, Romanian, Russian, and Spanish). The program stands apart from counterparts at institutions like Toronto, Alberta, and Montreal through its strong emphasis on critical theory, postcolonial studies, East-West cultural exchanges, and interdisciplinary media studies (with special attention to visual arts and cinema). Faculty members include distinguished scholars specializing in Medieval, Renaissance, Baroque, and modern (18th-20th century) cultural studies. Graduate students in our MA program gain valuable experience through Teaching Assistant positions.
