The Department of French provides graduate education programs culminating in Master of Arts (M.A.) and Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) degrees in French Literature, available with either dissertation or thesis options.

Additionally, the Department collaborates with multiple interdisciplinary programs: Feminist and Gender Studies (Master's level), Medieval and Renaissance Studies (Master's level), and Canadian Studies (Doctoral level), enabling students to gain expertise in these specialized areas.

The Master's-level interdisciplinary Feminist and Gender Studies program integrates graduate coursework in a chosen field with feminist perspectives and gender studies methodologies. This program is designed for students pursuing degrees in arts, counseling and spirituality (St. Paul), law, education, health sciences, or social sciences who wish to incorporate feminist and gender studies into their academic focus. Successful completion results in a master's degree in the primary discipline with an added "specialization in feminist and gender studies."
