Over four years, your coursework will encompass visual optics, neurophysiology of vision, clinical methods, and ocular health and disorders. The curriculum includes cell and molecular biology, pharmacology, genetics, epidemiology, clinical technology, ethics, and practice management. During the initial two years, you'll establish a strong foundation in health sciences, ocular diseases, optics, and vision science, while also learning essential clinical procedures and professional conduct. Patient interaction starts in your third year alongside continued coursework and case study analysis. The final two years focus predominantly on clinical training, with rotations through various specialty clinics including primary care, binocular vision, contact lenses, electrodiagnostics, low vision, ocular health, and sports vision. You'll also gain experience working with diverse patient groups, including children, elderly individuals, and those with developmental disabilities.
